“If you want to stand out from the crowd, give people a reason not to forget you.”
“It’s your difference that sets you apart, not your similarity. Stand out!”
Bernard Kelvin Clive
Anyone selling anything — be it a product, a service or themself — understands the importance of highlighting the positive things that make them unique when compared to their competitors. In a world of 24/7 information bombardment, social media, working from home, on-line shopping, virtual reality and never-ending politics, truly standing out is difficult, if not close to impossible.
It takes effort, time and money to conceptualize, plan and implement things that might gain an individual spotlight, even briefly. It also requires the stomach to accept the fact that sometimes the returns may be less that hoped. But unless you want to risk becoming a commodity instead of a brand (this includes your personal brand as well), you may want to look for ways to “strut your best stuff” if you want to avoid getting lost in the crowd.
This is the first of a series showcasing what we think are great efforts at grabbing the spotlight. Subjects and types of media used will vary widely; some will be things that we designed and produced, most will be by others. All share a common denominator: Fun, effective ways to say, “Look at Me!”
Anyone wanting to share their own “Look at Me’s” can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org along with a description of the photo. Could be very interesting.
Okay, here are a few examples to start with…
That’s all for this time. Thanks for “looking at us.”
